Meet Gabby!

Get to know Gabby Ortega, our new Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Assistant. We are so excited to welcome her to our staff!

Where are you from?

I am originally from Matamoros, Mexico. But I used to live in Brownsville, Texas.

What were you doing before you started working at St. Francis?

Before I started working at ST Francis, I used to be stay-at-home mom/wife, I am also a PTA member for my kids' school. And I used to be a volunteer here in St Francis, and I am part of the team for the RCIA.

What is your favorite dessert?

I love Lemon Cake.

What are your hobbies?

I like to do Yoga, and one of my favorites is listening all kinds music, with my family while making dinner.

If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?

My husband.

Who is your favorite saint?

Mother Teresa.

What is your favorite form of prayer?

A conversation with God, anytime it works great for me, when I ́m driving, when I ́m cooking, while I ́m doing exercise, any time, is like I have a friend who is listening to me all the time. My favorite prayer is Our Father, I pray it all day, It is just, when I pray it I feel and know that everything is going to be alright.

Do you have a favorite quote or bible verse?

God is love.

What made you want to work for the Church?

I had the desire to go back to work, and what better place to work at, than the place where I like to volunteer (St. Francis).

What excites you the most about being on staff?

Wow! the first thing that impress me when I came inside of the office was, all the work that is done behind scenes, to meet the Church's mission, I'm excited to learn new things every day, and to work with such an amazing staff.
