Origin First Communion Grades 2-5 *If your child has not received the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact our OCIA program. To prepare your child for First Reconciliation & First Communion: 1 Register your child for Origin Kids Begin by registering your child for Origin Kids (choose between attending the Sunday OR Wednesday sessions throughout the year). Every child preparing to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion must attend Sunday OR Wednesday sessions along with the Family Revival Nights on the first Wednesday of the month. 2 Attend a mandatory Parent Session All parents desiring for their children to receive the sacrament must choose one of the following sessions offered: Sunday, September 21st from 12:30-1:30pm OR Wednesday, September 24th from 5:45-6:45pm *All sessions will be hosted in the Great Hall 3 Attend either the Sunday Kids Sessions OR Wednesday Kids Sessions throughout the year Sundays from 12:30-1:45pm Wednesdays from 5:45-7pm Register How do you know if your child is ready to prepare for First Reconciliation & First Communion? The following is a basic assessment to help you determine if your child is ready to begin their preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Children are likely ready to begin preparation for the Sacraments when you can answer yes to the following questions... You are regularly attending Mass on Sundays. Your child is at least 7 years old and is in the 2nd grade (or grades above) Your child has some understanding of the difference between right and wrong. Your child is learning to know the difference between sins, accidents or mistakes. Your child is capable of apologizing. Your child has a relationship with Jesus and basic understanding that He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. Your child is beginning to know God as a loving Father who forgives us. Your child can (for the most part) pay attention at weekly Sunday Mass. Your child has some appreciation that God works through miracles. Your child shows curiosity about the Eucharist.

La Misa Ad Orientem, Novus Ordo en latín es una opción más. El Vaticano II otorgó a la Iglesia el Novus Ordo, o nuevo orden de la Misa. Este permite que la Misa se celebre en el idioma local en lugar del latín, como se hacía anteriormente. Sin embargo, el latín sigue siendo el idioma oficial de la Iglesia, como lo ha sido durante más de dieciséis siglos. Let us spend this time waiting in joyful hope in our hearts. Hope is not mere optimism or wishful thinking; it is a firm trust that God is faithful and will fulfill what He has promised. During Advent, we hope for something far deeper than gifts or festivities- we hope for Christ Himself. Want to live out Hope This Advent? Here are Four Ways: 1. Deepen Your Relationship with God Begin with prayer and the Sacraments. Like Mary’s “yes,” open your heart to God’s will through Mass and Confession. These encounters strengthen hope because they unite us to Christ. 2.Meditate on the Journey Just like Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, they contemplated the arrival of Jesus. Set aside time for Adoration, journaling, and spiritual reading. Hope grows when we contemplate God’s faithfulness in salvation history. 3.Embrace Joyful Anticipation Hope is active, it moves us to joy. Celebrate with traditions that point to Christ: nativity scenes, Advent wreaths, and community gatherings. These remind us that our waiting is filled with promise. 4.Practice Charity Hope leads to love in action. Be generous like the man who offered the stable. Serve the poor and show patience towards those around you. Every act of charity reflects the hope we have in Christ’s coming. In short: Preparing your heart with hope means living in confident trust that God’s promises are true, and letting that trust shape your life. Origen 4 Reasons for the Incarnation Do you know why Jesus Christ became man? Here are four reasons why as Catholics we believe this. They are found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. 1. The Word became flesh for us in order to save us by reconciling us with God, who "loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins" (CCC 457). 2. The Word became flesh so that thus we might know God's love: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him." (CCC 458). 3. The Word became flesh to be our model of holiness: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me." "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me" (CCC 459). 4. The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature"..."For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God." (CCC 460). "We call this food Eucharist...For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these...the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by Him...is both the flesh and blood of that incarnated Jesus." We all need healing, yet many of us are separated from the very source of our strength. Jesus Christ invites us to return to the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist.
