If you're considering becoming Catholic or you are a Catholic who never received Confirmation,
then the RCIA process (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) might be for you.

Picture
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults introduces adults to the teachings of the Catholic Church,
the Bible, and the Sacramental Life. Although specifically designed for those thinking about becoming Catholic, we welcome baptized adult Christians to join us on the journey.

The RCIA process prepares unbaptized adults to make a conscious choice whether or not they want to receive the sacraments of initiation offered by the Catholic Church (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).  Baptized adult Christians discern their desire to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church by a profession of faith and to complete the sacraments of initiation offered by the Catholic Church (Confirmation and Eucharist).

RCIA is a process of study, exploration, faith sharing, and faith formation with specific liturgical rites for seekers and inquirers.  Seekers and inquirers are non-baptized adults who desire to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church and baptized adult Christians who desire full communion in the Catholic Church.

Not sure if you want to become Catholic? Not a problem! In fact, we're assuming this is the case. The initial sessions are designed to answer some fundamental questions and give you a feel for what the process will entail. After the first few classes, we'll explore the core Christian message while beginning to answer your questions.

I’M ALREADY CATHOLIC AND WANT TO RECEIVE CONFIRMATION
For Catholics who have already been Baptized and received their First Eucharist, we offer an
Adult Confirmation process, which may be a better fit for you than RCIA.

I’M ALREADY CONFIRMED, IS RCIA RIGHT FOR ME?
Many of us stopped learning about our Catholic faith when we received the Sacrament of Confirmation in our early teens.

Confirmation was supposed to be the time when we chose the Catholic faith for ourselves.
Often we don't fully engage in our spiritual journey until much later in life.  It's not uncommon for us to realize as adults that we want to know more about our faith, and we are wrestling with some of the more difficult questions we have.

RCIA is an opportunity for you to explore your faith.  It is also a chance to see your faith through the eyes of people exploring it for the first time.

IS RCIA APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN?
RCIA Adapted for Children is for children seven years and old who are unbaptized or Baptized in another Christian denomination. We begin registration in August and meet  beginning in September.

Our adults in RCIA have an opportunity to grow in their relationship with God, themselves, and the other adults who are also considering joining the Catholic Church.

By offering prayer, support, and example for those who are seeking Christ, the community of the faithful at St. Francis becomes an active, engaged, and important part of the RCIA process as well.
Picture
The first step to explore the RCIA process is to schedule a meeting with our Sacramental and RCIA Director, Deacon Gregg Kahrs, and let us together see how we can best help you grow closer to Christ, grow in faith, and receive the Sacraments of Initiation.
SCHEDULE A MEETING
"If up till now you have kept Him at a distance, step forward.  He will receive you with open arms.  If you have been indifferent, take a risk: you won't be disappointed. If following Him seems difficult, don't be afraid, trust Him, be confident that He is close to you."                                - POPE FRANCIS
