How long have you been a parishioner? My family and I have been parishioners since the early 2000s. Back when we celebrated Mass at Curtsinger Elementary School. (ugh, so old).
What made you want to volunteer for AV team?
I was fortunate to have had some way to help the Parish in something that I had some knowledge of and enjoyed. It also allows me to play with gadgets and technology which is always fun.
How has it been doing the Livestreams? Prior to COVID-19, we had done a livestream just once. This was back in June of 2018 when the Diocese of Dallas held their Diaconate Ordination at St. Francis. The Diocese asked us to livestream the ordination, and that was the first time we had thrown together a bunch of technology to make it happen. It worked really well so we knew we could do it again, if/when we needed to. When COVID-19 happened and we couldn't have in-person Masses, Fr. Rudy and Deacon Alex reached out to see what we could do. We had an astounding response our first Sunday and had over 8,600 total views, counting both the English and Spanish Masses. The number of views has just exploded from there. Our second week, we were fortunate to have Justin Sulak come home from college, and he has single-handedly taken our livestream experience to the next level with slick-looking videos, graphics, and dramatic camera shots.
Anything you would like to include about volunteering during Covid?
I hope we will soon be able to be together in-person again in our main sanctuary, but this experience has been so gratifying seeing the enormous response and support from the parishioners. It's been so cool to be part of this effort to provide our parishioners with continuity and comfort during these unprecedented times.
Interested in joining the A/V Team?
Now more than ever, we need more amazing men and women that have a passion in the Audio & Visual industry to join the STFOA A/V Team! We are looking for volunteers to help with the following: Audio Mixing, Lighting, Projection, Lyrics, and Camera Operator. Volunteers will be asked to help on a rotating weekly schedule and during events at St. Francis requiring A/V support. Experience with A/V systems is preferred but training will be provided on a necessary basis. Contact Justin Sulak if interested, email@example.com
