Ways You Can Help
We have been overjoyed with the number of emails and messages from our parish community offering to assist in so many ways – Thank you all so much! Here are some other ways we’ve identified so far, in which you can help if you are able and called to do so.
Monetary Assistance:
  1. Make a donation to the St. Francis of Assisi Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council
  2. Contribute to the Catholic Charities Dallas (CCD) COVID-19 Relief Fund
  3. Contribute to the St. Francis of Assisi Frisco general fund
Non-monetary Assistance:
Non-perishable food items:
We are leveraging our existing relationship with Catholic Charities Dallas (CCD) to collect non-perishable food items. All non-perishable food items will be graciously accepted. However, at this time, the greatest need is any type of canned goods. Other example items include canned beans, canned fruit, canned meat, canned soup, canned vegetables, cereal, oatmeal, dry beans, pasta, and rice. The dates of the next food drives are as follows:

Monday, August 31st, 9 AM to 1 PM (In front of the main Church)
Monday, September 28th, 9 AM to 1 PM (In front of the main Church)

Future dates and times will be communicated via our eNewsletter.

Non-food items:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) accepts gently used clothing and household items. Twice each year (Spring & Fall), the SVdP Thrift Store Truck comes to the West Parking Lot of the parish for you to drop off your items (see svdpfrisco.org/bundle-weekend for more information). The Spring collection occurred on June 6th.  Dates for the Fall collection, which is currently scheduled for the weekend of October 24th/25th,will be communicated via our eNewsletter.

If you’d rather not wait until the next collection, you can always bring your items directly to either the Plano or Dallas Thrift Stores. Go to svdpdallas.org/shop/#donategoods for more information.

Pray:
Jesus calls us to unite in prayer and James exhorts us to “. . . pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.” (James 5:16)

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the need for prayer is greater than ever.

The Prayer Chain at St. Francis of Assisi Frisco is a group of individuals who have agreed to pray for the needs of others in our community and the world. To find out more information about becoming a member of the prayer chain, visit the Prayer Chain web page.

Past Initiatives:
Essential supplies pick-up and delivery: ***Closed***
The pick-up and delivery of “essential supplies,” i.e. groceries, medication / prescriptions, or other essential household products. Note that this will likely require you to purchase the items yourself and obtain reimbursement from the requester upon delivery. We will provide you guidelines for doing so. In order to volunteer for this service, you must not be in the “at-risk” category yourself nor be sick or exhibiting any of the defined COVID-19 symptoms. A process script will be provided.
We are no longer accepting volunteers for this service as there was no demand fo it.

Elderly Parishioner Outreach: ***Closed***
Assist in reaching out to some of our approximately 2,000 65+ year old parishioners to check up on them, remind them that we care about them and are praying for them, and ask them if there’s anything they need, such as the pick-up and delivery service explained above. A sample script will be provided for you to guide the conversation.
We are no longer accepting volunteers for this initiative as all calls have been completed.

Mailings to those isolated in Nursing Homes: ***Closed***
There are 80 residents of our local nursing homes, whom, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our nursing home ministers are no longer able to visit and bring communion.  As a result, we are asking that if you are so moved, if you and your families might be willing to send letters, cards, pictures, notes, words of encouragement, etc., in order to bring some light and joy into the lives of our isolated brothers and sisters in Christ! We were inspired by this photo posted on social media from residents in a facility in Webster, TX:
We are no longer accepting volunteers for this initiative as all 80 residents have been "adopted."
  2. Contribuir a la  Catholic Charities Dallas (CCD) COVID-19 Relief Fund
  3. Contribuir al fondo general de St. Francis of Assisi
Asistencia no monetaria:
Alimentos no perecederos:

Artículos no alimentarios:

Safe Environment Cleared
Please know we are beyond grateful for your support and want to help our parish family. In order to protect our most vulnerable all Volunteers will need to be Safe Environment Cleared.

If you are not cleared you can get started now! If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact Ginny Milich at gmilich@stfoafrisco.org.
