On the day of Pentecost
when the seven weeks of Easter
had come to an end,
Christ's Passover is fulfilled
in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, manifested, given, and communicated
as a divine person:
of his fullness, Christ, the Lord,
pours out the Spirit in abundance.

Adult Confirmation is for Catholics 18 years and older who have been Baptized and celebrated their First Communion but have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.  It is a process which assumes that an adult is a registered and active member of St. Francis of Assisi parish who knows and practices his faith but did not receive his Confirmation for whatever reason at the usual age.

Longing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation but not sure if the Adult Confirmation process is right for you? Not a problem! Explore the process in more detail.

ARE YOU A BAPTIZED CATHOLIC 18 YEARS OR OLDER WHO HAS CELEBRATED YOUR FIRST COMMUNION?
Youth under the age of 18 who have already received the Sacrament of Baptism and celebrated their First Communion in the Catholic faith participate in Youth Confirmation.

If you were Baptized Catholic but have not received the Sacraments of Confirmation or Eucharist, then the RCIA process will help you prepare for both Sacraments.

If you are not baptized or are a baptized adult Christian, we invite you to explore the
 RCIA process.

ARE YOU A REGISTERED AND ACTIVE MEMBER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PARISH WHO KNOWS AND PRACTICES HIS/HER FAITH?
It's not uncommon for us to realize as adults that we want to know more about our faith, and we are wrestling with some of the more difficult questions we have. If you have a longing to explore your Catholic faith and deepen your relationship with the Lord, the RCIA process may be a better fit for you than Adult Confirmation.

If you attend St. Francis regularly but have never registered, submit a parish registration.

Brothers and sisters in Christ who are registered and active members of another parish in the Diocese should reach out to their home parish regarding Confirmation.

ARE YOU ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ADULT CONFIRMATION PREPARTION WORSKSHOP?
The next workshop will be held on Saturday May 15, 2021.

ARE YOU AND YOUR CONFIRMATION SPONSOR ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RITE OF CONFIRMATION?
Adult Confirmation will be celebrated on Pentecost May 23,2021.

DISCERN
Complete the Adult Confirmation form to continue to discern if the Adult Confirmation process is right for you.

CONNECT
Once we receive your form, we will contact you to set up a one-on-one meeting. We will use the information in your form as a starting point for our conversation.

PREPARE
Call the Church where you were baptized and obtain a current copy of your baptismal certificate. The baptismal certificate must be dated within the last six months.

REFLECT
Spend time in prayer and reflection and choose a Confirmation sponsor. A sponsor must be at least
16 years of age and a fully initiated Catholic in good standing who practices his/her faith. If married, a sponsor’s marriage must be recognized by the Church. Neither a fiancée, spouse, nor parent may serve as a sponsor. Have your sponsor contact his/her parish to obtain written permission to serve as your sponsor.
A sample Letter of Good Standing can be found here.

PRAY
Spend time in prayer and reflection to choose a Confirmation Saint who will serve as a role model, intercessor, and friend.

Please email Deacon Gregg Kahrs, Sacramental and RCIA Director to learn about the opportunity to participate in the Adult Confirmation process in Spring of 2021.

It is evident from its celebration that the effect of the Sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1302

Please contact Sacramental and RCIA Director, Deacon Gregg Kahrs, if you have any questions.
