Sacrament Preparation at
St. Francis:
The Dallas Diocese
requires a 2 year Sacrament Preparation Policy in order to receive the
Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation.
First Reconciliation and
First Communion preparation is usually done in 1st and 2nd grades which qualify
as first and second year. Confirmation preparation is usually 7th and 8th
grades, which qualify as first and second year. In order for your child to be
placed in the 2nd year of Sacrament Preparation, they must have already
completed their first year of Sacrament Preparation.
Children in grades 4&5 who have completed year 1 and are in need of year 2
Sacrament Prep may attend our Sacrament Preparation class for grades 4&5. This
class is offered on Sunday 11:30 a.m., Monday 6:30p.m., Tuesday 5:00 p.m., or
Tuesday 6:30p.m.
Faith Formation Volunteer Position
Interested in
helping in our Faith Formation Program? Below is a brief job description for our
most-needed Faith Formation Volunteer Positions. All volunteers are required to
be Safe Environment cleared Adults. For further information, and for volunteer
forms, please contact:
·
Catechist:
Catechists are practicing Catholics in good standing, who have a desire to share
their Catholic faith with the children of our parish. Each class has a team of
at least two people who work together. Some will have children in the program
and some will not. Some have teaching experience, but most do not. All that is
required is a willing heart and a desire to pass on our Catholic faith to the
children of our parish. All volunteers will be provided with clearly written
curriculum with on-going support from the Faith Formation staff. Craft ideas,
music, videos and other materials are at your disposal. Training includes a
workshop, various meetings and an opportunity to attend diocesan training that
offers an exciting variety of topics.
·
Catechist
Aide:
Catechist Aides are practicing Catholics in good standing who assist the
Catechists in a variety of tasks. Assistance may include help with classroom
management, class projects, attendance, or helping individual students in the
completion of tasks. Catechist Aides assist the catechist but are not
responsible for preparing the lesson.
·
Team Leader:
Team Leaders provide support to our faith formation sessions by making copies,
monitoring classroom needs, ensuring all Safe Environment procedures are being
adhered to at assigned sessions, procuring substitutes when needed and
maintaining important lines of communication with our teaching teams.
·
Nursery
Volunteer:
Provides a safe and fun atmosphere for the youngest members of our parish while
their parents are volunteering in our Faith Formation program as a catechist,
aide, or team leader.
·
Permanent
Substitute:
Be available to help out in your child’s class should one of the regular
catechists or aides not be in that day. Substitutes may also be called upon to
help in the nursery if they are short a nursery volunteer.
